Being a point-to-point run, there are some logistical challenges for any runner who does not have support crew to drop off at start and pick up at the finish.
We have organised with the wonderful support of local bus company, Popes Timboon, buses that can be pre-booked / paid to help with transfer logistics.
So here’s the lowdown on how bus logistics will run per distance:
100km unsupported runners
As per the schedule on this website, we only have buses returning to Apollo Bay on the SUNDAY, not directly after the run itself (as people get in at all different times, and we finish in a paddock, so it is a challenge to figure an appropriate logistical solution that suits all runners across an approximate 11 hour time window!)
So the current solution is for runners to stay at Port Campbell on Saturday night (we transfer you as part of entry), cop some rest and then catch the private charter bus on Sunday morning back to Apollo Bay (we are arranging, you need to pay during registration process or add to your registration by navigating back to it and adding / paying).
The process looks something like this:
Pre-book and pay for your bus ticket during your registration process (or if already entered, go back into Race Roster via your registration email and add as merchandise)
Park at Apollo Bay Friday of event weekend, attended bib pick up / race briefing, stay overnight in your accommodation there (participant responsible for booking).
Run on the Saturday
Arrive at finish somewhere between 1pm and 1am Sunday.
We will have a mini bus and/or a marshal car ferrying finishers into Port Campbell (10-15 minute drive away) on a rolling bus-full basis
You need to have pre-booked your own accommodation in Port Campbell for R&R covering your Saturday night (ensure you pre-arrange with hotel / motel / AirBnB for potential late, late arrival and key access!)
Sunday morning catch the pre-booked bus back to Apollo Bay where you car is waiting for you. The charter bus will depart Port Campbell Main Street (location TBC) at 10am sharp. You will arrive back in Apollo Bay at approx 11.45am.
45km unsupported runners
We will have a private charter bus departing from the Twelve Apostles Visitor Information Centre at 8.30am to deliver runners to the start line at Johanna Beach (start time: 10am).
Pre-book and pay for your bus ticket during your registration process (or if already entered, go back into Race Roster via your registration email and add as merchandise)
Drop bags - all distances
Yes, we will operate a drop bag service taking any gear (i.e. warm clothes to wear while waiting for the start) back to the finish line at Twelve Apostles.
